SCOPE:
AI-DLDA 2018 is an International Summer School for young researchers and Ph.D. students with the main scope aiming at updating participants about the most recent advances in the area of Artificial Intelligence, ranging from deep learning to data analytics. This school will give an in-depth analysis of the state-of-the-art research and will cover a large spectrum of current research activities and industrial applications deal with big data, computer vision, human-computer interaction, biomedical informatics, deep learning and serious games.

ADDRESSED TO:
Master’s students, PhD students, researchers and industry practitioners will be typical profiles of participants. However, there are no formal pre-requisites for attendance in terms of academic degrees. The selected participants will benefit from direct interaction with world leaders in AI.

STRUCTURE:
The School will be organized in four teaching days with keynote lectures from both academia and industry (during the morning) and laboratory sessions (during the afternoon) and 1 round table. Invited industry will present their advanced applications in the field of AI. Last day is reserved to final exam for those who need credits and the poster session.

Computer Vision & Augmented Reality
– Advances in the state of the art for learning activity recognition from large-scale video dataset. Machine vision methods to perceive structures and objects such that robots act in and learn from everyday situations. Understanding 3D world to augment and mix it with 3D virtual objects.

. Mixed and augmented reality for industrial applications

Mobile Robotics, grasping and manipulation
– Deep learning and simulation to rescore grasp hypotheses generated on real data. Training robots to cooperate with humans.

Long term learning and transfer knowledge
– Transfer learning as improvement of learning in a new task through the transfer of knowledge from a related task that has already been learned.

REGISTRATION:
It has to be done at https://aidldaphdschool.org
Participation in the school will be limited to 20-25 students. The selection will be made by the organizing committee and by the school directors based on the scientific curriculum. A white paper on their research acticity is mandatory for students requiring the free admission to the school.

IMPORTANT DATES:
– Submission for applications: June 1, 2018
– CV and White Paper submission: June 10, 2018
– Notification of acceptance: June 15, 2018
– Registration deadline: June 19, 2018

FEES:
Admission to the summer school is granted to the accepted students through the payment of the registration fee that is 350 Euros. The 10 best students, evaluated on the basis of the CVs and scientific white papers, will be weaved by registration fees, and supported in their travel expenses (upper bound 500 Euros).
All registered students will receive free access to all courses, free lunches and accommodation.

CERTIFICATE:
A certificate of participation in the event will be delivered indicating the number of hours of lectures. Exam pass will be included in the certificate.

SOCIAL EVENTS:
During the week of the school, there will be time for a tour of the ancient town of Palmanova (Unesco site) and Aquileia (old Roman town), including the opportunity to experience the local traditions. A social dinner and a party are also part of the social program.
